Ireland’s digital marketing price rises by 10 per cent

Dubliners will have to pay more to view content online as the digital price of €2.99 has risen 10 per per cent.

Digital pricing for news, sports, TV, books and travel has also risen.

The rise in prices is the result of the “Digital Revolution” launched in 2016 and includes changes in how content is displayed.

This means the price of content, including online and offline, is now based on the cost of a consumer’s home internet connection.

The price increase will apply to news, TV and book downloads.

For TV content, the digital charge is fixed at €1.99.

For sports, it is €2 for 1-hour or €3 for 30-minute clips.

For travel, it’s €2 per hour or €4 per day.

The cost of digital content in Ireland has increased by 11.7 per cent to €1,716.14 from €1 and €1 respectively a year ago.

The increase is due to an increase in subscription fees, said Sean Cuthbertson from Dublin City Council Digital Transformation Unit.

The average price of digital media content has increased 17.3 per cent over the past 12 months to €2,865.00.

This is mainly because of a rise in the price for online advertising, the unit said.

It also includes an increase of 7.2 per cent for paid-for online advertising.

The rate of inflation in the economy has also increased by 7.6 per cent, according to the Dublin city region’s local government statistics office.

It was 4.6 percent in May.

It will be interesting to see how the rate of price increases will affect consumers, said Ms Cuthberson.

“The price of a new digital product will fluctuate over the course of a year and there’s no doubt that we will see a gradual increase in prices,” she said.

“There will be no shortage of digital product available to Irish consumers, however they are not going to be able to purchase it online, and they are going to have to purchase the product online.”

This is likely to have a significant impact on the number of digital subscriptions in the Irish market, which have been growing by 10.4 per cent in the past year, according the Irish Information Technology Association.

This year, the average number of subscriptions was 5,928, with almost half of them coming from outside Ireland.

“We are currently seeing a significant number of people in the UK who are choosing to purchase their digital content from abroad,” said Claire McEntee from the Association of Digital Service Providers (ADPS).

She added that digital subscriptions are growing in the US and UK and the US is growing by an average of 1.5 per cent every year.

“With digital, we are able to deliver digital content to our customers in a very cost effective way.

The internet is a very valuable tool, and it can be a very effective delivery vehicle.”

In terms of the Irish economy, the ADPS said that the value of digital services has increased to €19.8 billion in the 12 months from March to December of this year, up from €13.3 billion in 2016.

“In the next 12 months, digital will become the key technology that connects people and businesses across the country and the world,” Ms McEnte said.

The ADPS is one of several groups who are lobbying the Government to review the digital economy, but the current plan does not reflect the needs of consumers.
