Facebook is working on new data sharing policies and transparency for its digital marketing business, according to a source with knowledge of the project.
The source told Recode that the new privacy policies are coming from the Facebook team.
Facebook and Instagram are both owned by Facebook, which is the primary owner of Instagram.
Facebook has not shared details of the new policies, saying only that it would share more details as it develops them.
The new policies are likely to be a big deal for Instagram, which already has privacy policies that allow users to see what types of data the company collects from users.
Instagram also has a policy that says it will share data with third parties, such as advertisers, for the purpose of “building user experience.”
Recode first reported the new data-sharing policies.
